Why did you choose your apprenticeship?
I chose my apprenticeship because of my interest in IT which stems from working with computers at school and home. I felt that for me to develop my knowledge, I needed to gain experience in a work-based environment which is why an apprenticeship was the best way forward.
What were you doing before your apprenticeship? Did this encourage you to apply for a Channel 4 apprenticeship?
Studying Criminology, Sociology and Media Studies for A-Levels. I suppose studying Media made me aware of broadcast and TV, so this had an impact on my decision to apply with Channel 4. Having that knowledge beforehand definitely made my choice easier.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Helping people with any issues that come up and getting that satisfaction from fixing issues that arise. It also means I get to meet new people as well.
What are your top tips for anyone working as a Technology Apprentice?
To ask questions and be attentive – You will come across words that you have never heard before but do not be scared. You will eventually get used to them so do not panic or feel left out. Just ask question and do not be a stranger.
