How much responsibility were you given during your internship?

During my internship I was given the opportunity to take part in a variety of projects to help me develop my knowledge and skills. Although I was given direction towards the desired outcome of a task, I was given the full responsibility to reach the goal. This really made me feel like I was able to make a real contribution to the team.

What was the most valuable lesson you learnt on your internship?

The most important thing I learnt was that before asking a question, always attempt to find the answer yourself or come with a recommendation. Through this, even if you don’t find the answer, you will have learnt something and your team will value you taking the initiative.

How has this internship affected your career prospects?

From the internship, I was offered a place on the graduate programme, and I am really happy to be going back to Blackrock. While my experience in the technology division meant I was more marketable to similar graduate schemes, having done the internship I knew that BlackRock was the place I wanted to start my career.
