How much responsibility were you given during your internship?

Throughout the 10 weeks, an intern is encouraged to push themselves. Interns are assigned projects that create real value for the team and in some circumstances my ideas were taken on board and developed further. It was gratifying to find out that a document I had created during my internship was still being used after I had left the firm and returned to university.

What did you enjoy most about your internship?

My favourite part of the program was the ability to interact with all members of the firm. Interns are exposed to senior management and are encouraged to network and express their opinions with the firm’s leaders. It is apparent that throughout BlackRock, interns are treated as potential future leaders.

What were the highlights of your job?

One of the main highlights of the job was the ability to work with colleagues from across the globe. BlackRock has a truly global reach that openly encourages teamwork and communication. I would speak to colleagues in Asia in the morning and then the U.S in the afternoon. This ‘One BlackRock’ mentality resonates throughout each region and I still hold strong relationships with colleagues that live and work on different sides of the globe.
