Why do you love working at Arcadis?
I love working at Arcadis for the People – Arcadis has a People First culture – it’s a great environment to work with people who constantly praise and support you throughout every step of your journey. The support I’ve received from starting has been second to none and I really like that you have so many people you can talk to if you ever have any questions.
Can you describe a ‘typical day’ in your role?
No 2 days are the same for me! As I work in more of an enabling function’s role for the business my daily tasks change daily. I always start the morning looking through timesheets and ensuring we follow up on individuals that may have missed submission as it’s important that we recognise hours against projects. I spend lots of time looking at Cost Billability for employees, ensuring they are putting their 'best hours forward' and seeing if there’s any support that we can give to them. Some days I spend time looking at our Project Compliance, which is used for Audits, and give support and guidance to those who need it. I think my most important role is being there for our people who need support, if they're struggling with anything commercial, our team is always the first point of call!
What has been your favourite project up to now?
As I'm classed as a 'non fee earner' I don't directly get involved with projects however, I support project managers on their projects & I love to hear what they're working on, it can be anything from Environmental Planning looking at Bats & Badgers to Water Management working with major clients or Site Restoration - there’s too many good projects to count, but I also enjoy speaking to people to see what they’re up to.
What tips would you give to someone who is applying to Arcadis?
Speak to everyone you can, it's the best way to make new connections in the business, never be afraid to ask for help whilst applying for a role, the Early Years team are great at answering any questions you may have about a role, no question is a stupid question! & Most importantly, be yourself - Arcadis is such a great environment that allows you to be true to yourself - one of the main reasons why I chose to work here!
