Sandwich Placement Student Review

To date my role has included activities such as drafting licences, leases and FBT's, preparing particulars for the letting and sale of land, preparing schedules of condition, producing CA16 Application Forms to prevent new public rights of way being formed as well as general property management and project management. I also undertake regular site visits and out-of-office work.

I was given lots of responsibility during my placement year, mostly in property management and in the letting and sale of small areas of land. I had a lot of support from my team and could ask my colleagues for advice and guidance if I needed it - this meant that I never felt overburdened or out of my depth and always felt like a valued member of my team.

During my placement year I have seen an improvement in the way I work professionally and in my confidence in myself and my abilities. Savills provides employees with lots of opportunities to learn new skills and further develop existing ones via regular webinars and online courses. These were especially useful during lockdown when I was not able to access the office.

I had a lot of support from my team and could always ask my colleagues for advice and guidance on any subject - they were always happy to help.

Savills has a great work ethic and culture. Whilst lockdown put a stop to the usual social events and activities (which I hear occur frequently in a normal year) regular team catch ups were arranged to ensure that all members of the team were coping with working from home. Now that we are coming out of lockdown social events, cricket matches and charity walks are being arranged for later in the year.

I really enjoyed my placement year with Savills - my colleagues were fantastic, I was supported throughout, I learnt a lot and always felt like a valued member of the team. It exceeded my expectations and if a graduate position became available I would apply without a second thought.
