My role is comprised of building new features on the salesforce platform and maintaining old features. It also includes conducting research on possible solutions and using data to design solutions.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Absolutely, I have been responsible for implementing entire features end to end.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, the skills I have learnt include being able to use the salesforce platform proficiently. After this year I could confidently apply and function in a mid level salesforce developer role. Other skills include time management, communication and managing stakeholders.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
There is a lot of support from my line manager to scheme managers. I also have a mentor and a buddy. So I feel I have been supported across different levels in the organisation. In particular I have absolutely loved my mentor who has continuously ensured she provides a safe space for honest conversation throughout the year.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is really nice as a general rule. their flexible first policy does lean more remote than hybrid meaning it's hard to connect with people outside of you immediate team. It is a really nice place to work and they do make efforts to ensure it stays that way.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
Look at the values and apply them to your answers. if you get stuck in interview, don't give up just try and vocalise your thought process. If you get on make the most of your opportunity, ask loads of questions and ask for any opportunity you see that would benefit you.
