Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Everyday is different in a marketing role. The most common element is interacting with different markets (NL, FR, US) on a daily basis. I have numerous projects happening at one time which makes the job extremely interesting and exciting! Every other week I am interacting with account managers from different retailers, checking in on PG tips performance and also suggesting different product listings to build the brands presence in store and online.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

The degree of responsibility you gain whilst on a placement at Unilever is tremendous. From the start to end of your placement you are given real responsibilities and have an opportunity to make a real impact and show what you're capable of.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

The skills which have been enhanced whilst on my placement are communication, negotiating and presenting skills. New skills which i have learnt have got to be networking and tailoring my communication style for different stakeholders.

The support from my manager whilst on my placement was great. The perfect combination of independence and support when needed.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Company culture at Unilever is everything you would want in a company. They care about the people and the planet. Unilever also encourages each employee to attend a 'Purpose' workshop which i found extremely inspiring and fulfilling.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I loved every minute of my placement. It is something i will always cherish and remember. The support you receive from different groups at Unilever is special, it makes you feel comfortable to go outside your comfort zone and try new things.
