Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I attended online zoom meetings where guest speakers discussed a variety of ranger and science related topics. I also participated in a group project where we proposed a campaign to encourage community involvement in nature.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a fair amount of responsibility to complete the group project assigned for this internship. It was up to me and my group to figure out our project and complete it based on the outline they provided for us.

I was able to gain new information on career expectations and interviewing skills. In the group work I believe I was able to develop my existing skills in communication and team work.

I had loads of guidance during my internship. The guest speakers were more than happy to answer questions and offered up a lot of useful information.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

I think the internship had a good atmosphere to it, we kept our cameras on out of respect for those who were speaking to us and I felt engaged.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my placement. Even though it took place virtually, I do believe I gained a lot from attending it. The staff were really engaging and you could tell they cared about what they were doing and in turn made you feel more ready to participate. It was a unique experience I wouldn't trade for anything else.
