Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

We had talks from partners and associates, learned about case studies, had a fair to learn more about the different areas of law, did a negotiation workshop. We also had the opportunity to shadow a trainee and it was very insightful. Overall a very good experience

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was really insightful and enabled me to learn about potential careers in law and what it is like to be a solicitor in a city law firm. The shadowing was the most useful part of the insight scheme for this reason as well as just networking with trainees over lunch. Learning about previous cases and hearing from partners was also really good in learning about potential roles for the future.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

- Understanding the difference between transactions and litigation.
- Learnt about Trial strategy
- Taking attendance notes in a meeting with counsel regarding ongoing banking litigation case
- Reviewed instruction email with senior member of the team to discuss discovery for an ongoing investigation

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Really nice, friendly people who seemed like they would be approachable and helpful if you were to work at the company. It seemed to have a lot of inclusive networks and sounded like a great, uncompetitive place to work.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

It was really great, i'm very glad I applied and met a lot of nice people whilst learning more about a career in law as a non-law student.
