Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day I would attend graduate recruitment sessions and socials. In between the time I would do tasks for my principal and arrange coffee chats. In terms of trainee tasks I did small amendments to documents and research tasks. I was also asked to do a first draft of a legal opinion. During the scheme you are encouraged to speak to so many people as possible which is why you can arrange to have coffee chats and attend other department meetings.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
They give a really good overview about how each department works, what type of deals they do and what type of tasks they have to do.

Yes, I have learnt to do some drafting and research. I had the chance to learn a lot about the firm including their strategy, practice areas and the training.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
They are really friendly, honest and open to questions. They have an open door policy and everyone usually comes by and checks in on how you are doing. Even the senior people in the organization are really down to earth and do not feel intimidating.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I've had an amazing time on the scheme and felt that I've had a real insight into the work that Linklaters does. It was definitely one of the best experiences in the legal market.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Linklaters
Prepare for the assessment center well. Make sure you have a good knowledge of technical terms around M&A and show genuine enthusiasm to work at the firm. Be clear in your competency question.
