Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

It ranged from interactive sessions such as a negotiation task and practice area networking sessions to other chances to gaining in-depth understanding to the work done at HSF. This includes several inside the headlines of the form of high-profile litigation and corporate deals they did.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was definitely interesting because coming from a working class background these are areas that I wouldn’t normally be accustomed to knowing . Hearing and networking with people across the firms practice areas with different journeys to HSF was also extremely insightful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed various skills on the day such as communication and critical thinking during the corporate negotiation task where new key words such as indemnity were taught. Also I understand more about the niche form of skills that lawyers need such as commercial awareness and the various ways to achieve this.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It was good and it was nice seeing a mixture of individuals not just across the U.K. but also internationally.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I enjoyed different parts of the sessions with the interactive sessions generally being the more interesting. However the talk on pro-bono and the shadowing session was definitely a highlight.
