Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
During this insightful and interactive scheme, I had the opportunity to:
- Shadow a trainee in the firm's Real Estate practice
- Attend workshops on the firm's I&D policies and Just Purpose initiatives
- Attend a practice fair and gained insights into Fieldfisher's diverse and award-winning practices
- Network with various trainees and solicitors and gained an insight into the firm's work and culture
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was a brilliant experience from a commercial awareness standpoint as I developed my understanding of the role of a commercial lawyer in business transactions between large entities. By shadowing a trainee in real estate, I gained an insight into the practical application of land law concepts in real life planning situations. Furthermore, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the firm's work in banking & finance, personal injury and medical negligence, corporate, and dispute resolution. .

I developed integral skills required for success in commercial law during the scheme. Shadowing a trainee in the firm's real estate practice and being tasked with a research assignment regarding electronic conveyancing of land honed my writing and research skills as I had to find information and produce a concise response in limited time. I also developed my interpersonal skills as I had the opportunity to network with various people with diverse interests.

Everyone at the firm was d eager to give their insights and advice. It was made clear that I would be welcome to ask any questions and I appreciated the time that trainees and solicitors took out of their busy schedule to answer our questions regarding their practices and the work of a commercial solicitor.
