Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
In my experience I worked with the in town retail team which covers commercial property on the high street and schemes including shopping centres. On a day-to-day basis my team mentor included me with some of the essential/simple tasks for example emails, phone calls. I also was given example/draft tasks to get a real feel of what a surveyor in retail does e.g. acquiring retail properties for big clients and relocating clients.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Extremely interesting to learn about all the different pathways and specific roles you can venture down at savills. interesting to learn about the strength and sheer size of the business and the power it holds within the UK market.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt skills related to constructing/filling out a report and valuation, completing valuations, finding comparables for commercial property, using software such as co star and savills maps, key terms within real estate.
I have developed my professional/formal writing skills for emails and reports, valuation knowledge, property knowledge as a whole!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company culture feels chilled out, friendly but importantly professional and serious at the right time. Everyone was extremely friendly and took me in as if I had known them for years. Everyone is passionate about what they do and will not hesitate to give you some insight about what they do if you ask them.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed my four days at the company and its definitely fuelled me with motivation to carry on working hard at university and develop my chances to become successful within property. My team mentor was extremely inclusive and always made sure that I had something to do and include me with his day to day activities.
