Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My role is Business Administrator Apprentice. My day to day tasks involve communicating with members of our programme team, organising events, coordinating and organising new activities for our teams, organising meetings including dates, times and location.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to work with different teams and shadow different people, this helped me to grow my network and also my understanding of different functions within the programme. I gained so much valuable knowledge and experience through my apprenticeship, and it was a great way to get into the world of work. I would really recommend apprentice programmes with network nail to people who are looking to start their career. The Level 3 Business Administration course itself is really interesting, and the training provider is great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learned so many new skills. As someone who came straight from A-Levels into the corporate world, I had limited understanding of how big organisations work, and office environments (I had only ever worked in hospitality). Throughout my apprenticeship, I have learned many IT skills, communication skills, organisational skills, and I have grown both personally and professionally.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well structured. I have college on the same day every week, and work the other days.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
The support is brilliant, as someone who struggles with a long-term illness, I have been really happy with support I've received from my manager, the early careers team, HR, and my colleagues in the office. I am never afraid to reach out to someone for help, as I know that I will always be supported. When struggling at work, I was offered support through occupational health, and through our employee assistance programme, which has been really helpful.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
The support I receive from my college is limited, as I have never needed support from them, however I am certain that both my college tutor, and my programme assessor would support me if I needed it.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
I feel that the knowledge I have learnt through my training provider has been valuable, and that it is applicable to my role within network rail. The skills and knowledge that I've learned at college have been transferrable to the workplace, especially the modules on project management, as I have used this directly within my role at work.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
As far as I know, there are limited extra-curricular activities. However, there are many many opportunities for networking. Each team has regular social events and activities, and there are lots of networks including an early careers network, which has been a great networking opportunity and has helped me to connect with people my age.
