Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?

the Grad Scheme is well constructed and provides a good stepping stone for grads moving into a more professional setting. The day to day work is a bit more challenging with plenty of support from the senior management team and peers.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

during initial electrical design there is plenty of development that can be gained from discussions and work that can be requested with the senior on the project. so if there is a deliverable you want to be a part of or want to gain more development in that field these opportunities have always been there for me.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
for me when ever i have been looking to gain experience in a certain deliverable it has always been made available or discussed in a manner to progress my development.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
I have found that at a office based grad level there are some parts of the package that that are unavailable for me until I have been promoted to engineer. some of which I pay for through salary sacrifice and will be made free as part of the package when I get that promotion. but all in all the package is very wide and much more than competitors.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

4/5
there is a clear progression route will clear objectives that are set 6 monthly and reviewed for current progression.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
in my current role there are plenty of opportunity for training with in the team will clear focus of what is required team wide rather than individually

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
the support mostly comes from my line manager and peers. there has never been a time where i have not felt supported.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
being hybrid I'm in the office 3 and at home 2 which allow for better secluding of free time on the days I'm at home. Having a 1 year old it helps supporting my partner knowing i am only in the next room if needed. being office based its a generic 9-5 with me only staying later if im wanting to get a tasked finished rather than carrying it through to the next day.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
being dyslexic Balfour have supported this through software that was available shortly after joining.

How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

4/5
same as above. ive felt very included

How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

4/5
given that all employees have 2 paid volunteering days a year i think this speaks for itself, with the exception if you are needed to get a deliverable over the line then obviously the job comes first.
