Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?

My experience at Balfour Beatty was good , originally when I started there was a bit of a low work period I was filling with training and process improvements. After 2 months I was handed my own projects to lead , my role focuses heavily on mechanical engineering which is what I was looking for in a grad job.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Project Leadership and management , in my role I get to lead a project from start to finish - writing the scope to delivery. This is a major benefit of seeing a project delivered in its full form and contributing to its design and safety.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
Managing and delivering a project helps me contribute meaningfully, delivering my tasks on time with no issues.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

3/5
I have really appreciated the buy back holiday scheme up to 10 days , this helped me ease into the corporate life. I do not really use any other benefits.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

4/5
In terms of general skills I have picked up a lot , however there is areas for improvement when it comes to developing engineering skills.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
When I am site, I find this is the best for learning - visually there is a lot of plant and mechanical processes to understand and learn. However I definitely think there is room for improvement especially for engineering roles , such as going over other projects topping up on skills like hydraulics , CAD , FEA .

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
I receive a lot of support from my manager and team

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
My work life balance is brilliant

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
I feel included and welcome , generally a bit of an awkward environment due to hybrid working - but the team and people have been very nice and informative.

How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

4/5
Good schemes and initiatives - maybe not as promoted as they should be

How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

4/5
Okay - could do better when it comes to engineering sustainabilty
