Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I plan, review and write code towards working on a project for the summer, with a daily meeting with my team where we discuss the day's progress, weekly 1 to 1s with my mentor and team leader, and some weekly meetings with the largest org within Bloomberg engineering.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Quite a lot of responsibility, not to the point of being overwhelming, but the work I have done matters and will affect the company.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, gotten better at communicating technical ideas, reading documentation and researching, using AI efficiently to code, building a system at a scale that I hadn't really before, and learning about internal architectures and softwares and improving at web development, and at C++.

Communication skills are super important, be open minded, be willing to learn from others, and (for software engineering in particular) get comfortable with using AI for your coding workflows and get some experience with the challenges that brings.
