CE Software Engineer Intern Review

Stand-up meetings in the morning, collaborating with the team to implement new features and resolve defects within programs, retrospectives and investigations.

I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship - the tasks that I was working on were directly influencing production and I was working on projects that could unlock new avenues for my team.

Yes, I have learned
- how to collaborate amongst a team of engineers using a Scrum methodology
- how to better approach engineering tasks
- better practices for developing, testing and writing code

I received a lot of support and guidance -- alongside my line manager, I was assigned a buddy who was also able to help me settle in and with queries that I was less certain of. On top of that, I had weekly meetings just to check in, as well as the TA team providing weekly sessions of guidance throughout my internship.

Everyone is friendly and approachable -- you'll always be able to have someone to chat to if you're just getting a coffee or at snack and chat in the mornings. The work is also very flexible which surprised me, since I always had this misconception of corporate being a lot more strict. They always look for ways to support you.

I enjoyed it -- it further solidified my desire to become a software engineer. The project I was working on was fulfilling and the company culture made it feel like I wasn't working at times.
