Summer DMP Intern Review

As a DMP intern, the work can vary depending on the team you are placed in. Generally, the role involves improving and optimising existing workflows, some prompt engineering, and building pipelines or tools to automate and improve processes. The work can also include less technical tasks, such as investigating and responding to internal queries or tickets. Overall, there is a good mix of technical problem-solving, project work and day-to-day support.

Yes, I was given a good amount of responsibility. I was able to work on my own project while also taking part in the same day-to-day tasks as the rest of the team. This gave me a good understanding of the role and a real sense of what working as a full-time DMP would be like.

I learnt a lot of new technical and soft skills during the internship. On the technical side, I gained experience with areas such as model drift, AI performance, data analysis and improving workflows. I also developed my soft skills, particularly around presenting my work to different audiences, adapting how I communicate depending on who I am speaking to, asking better questions and explaining technical findings in a clear way. I also became more confident working independently and collaborating with people across different teams.

I got a lot of support, everyone was very happy to answer my questions, guide and help me.

I had many coffee chats with people from different teams. Everyone was very welcoming and answered questions. It was a very collaborative environment. There were a lot of opportunities to bond via activities such as team lunches and various volunteering events.

I learned a lot and my work made an impact on my teams workflows. I had a great time in the office and overall it was a very positive experience.
