Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight event was three days and an amazing way to learn more about an investment banking career. There were events with speakers from across the firm, technical training sessions, and networking sessions throughout the three days. We were also assigned to a buddy who was able to provide advice about working at the bank and unparalleled insight into the actual life of an investment banking analyst.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I think that completing a spring insight programme is one of the best ways to learn about the business and the daily life of an investment banking analyst/intern. I learnt about how the Lazard business is structured and the strengths of its unique advisory-only model while gaining a deeper understanding into what a future commitment to the investment banking experience would look like. All in all it was a great learning opportunity.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Definitely. I developed a wide skillset of technical skills through technical training sessions and communication/networking skills through the constant interactions with other bankers and participants. We also had the opportunity to complete a group presentation on an M&A deal and presented this to a Lazard banker, which practiced my presentation and teamwork skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very welcoming and diverse. The insight week experience was stereotype-breaking and updated my existing thoughts about the banking industry as I found Lazard's bankers to be friendly, motivated and excited to share their personal experience. I left the spring week experience thinking that Lazard would be a place where I am excited to work at in the future.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
Very much — the insight programme was intense but it was three days of learning about the bank, meeting about other peers and importantly also learning about yourself and further exploring my motivations for an investment banking career. The opportunity to make a group presentation also helped me build really close connections with those in my group, which was really amazing.
