Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
I have completed the first year of my graduate Scheme at Balfour Beatty and it has been incredibly rewarding.
One of the most valuable aspects of the graduate scheme has been the opportunity to take ownership of projects and contribute to meaningful pieces of work. Being trusted to lead on tasks and contribute where possible has helped me develop my confidence and has made me feel capable of achieving my goals. These experiences have continually pushed me outside of my comfort zone, encouraging me to grow professionally and strive to be the best version of myself.
There is also a great early careers community of EC colleagues who are always willing to help and support one another. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed and encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to me

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The graduate scheme has given me the opportunity to rotate within my team and develop a wider understanding of the business. I began with material procurement where I was given the opportunity to take lead on this and make meaningful contributions, I also helped improve the process and delivered training to my project.
I now sit in the subcontract procurement team where I am learning this side of my team through the opportunity to take responsibility of packages of works.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I feel I am able to contribute meaningfully and make a real difference. My team allows me to take responsibility and ownership of projects.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

I think the graduate scheme offers great perks and benefits, such as the built in pay rises. I feel we are rewarded for the hard work.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I have had the opportunity to work in different aspects of my team to learn what I enjoy the most. This rounded experience will help me progress into my career.

My line manager and team support me with everything which has helped me develop as a professional. There is also great support for the early careers community.

My work balance is good.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

I work in the office 3 days a week, 2 remotely. The culture from my experience is very inclusive and welcoming.
