Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As an engineering intern working in performance modelling, I was tasked with constructing a modelling tool for internal use by engineers within the company. My role consisted primarily of coding and analysis, with meetings to discuss the tools direction, and intended use.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a high degree of independence in my role, which came with the responsibility of creating a functional and accurate tool that would be used by many.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed skills working on large code repositories, and also coding in C++. I also extended by knowledge of computer architecture, and became exposed to the world of performance modelling. I have also gained experience in corporate meetings and collaborative work with colleagues.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had access to constant support and guidance from my buddy whenever I requested it, with more structured support meetings with my line manager being provided at weekly intervals. I also met with my technical manager bi-weekly in a group setting, with infrequent 1-1 meetings.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Very much! I expected to enjoy the technical side before I joined, as I enjoy the subject area very much, but the exact work was very engaging, and the team were amazingly friendly.
