Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?

Highly enjoyable. The rotational programme is great for gaining different competencies and experiencing different parts of the business. I feel like I am learning a lot from the on teh job work and also informal training that is regularly put on. The people are all so lovely and welcoming and there are always lots of social events on across the year which helps networking across the business and within the grad cohorts.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

1st rotation lease consultancy -
Comp searches to inform negotiations and benchmark market rent
Assisted in drafting Calderbank acceptance forms and Calderbank authorisation letters, fee proposals and briefing notes.
Analysed leases to create lease summaries to inform rent reviews.
Practiced calculating net effective rent and day one rent to inform clients and decision making.
2nd rotation Property Management
Undertaking a service charge reconciliation and then drafting service charge reconciliation and budget reports for occupiers and a quarterly report for the client
Dealt with insurance claims.
Involved in the CRAR process to retrieve outstanding rent arrears.
Read legislation including, Heads of Terms and leases (new, reversionary and renewals), and analysed these by compiling lease summaries used to update tenancy schedules.
Operational Investment Valuation
Comp searches to compile comp schedules
Due diligence searches for report
Drafting reports
Pricing residential flats in BTR and block flat schemes
Attending inspections for valuation purposes

It is so great that the company offers this benefit however the high cost of living in London does make it difficult living in London on a 30k salary

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
Grad HR is really good and supportive. I would feel comfortable reaching out if i had any issues.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
Very good apart from the grads are mostly not allowed to work from home which is fine 99% of the time and good for learning but perhaps not the most flexible in comparison to other jobs.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
I really like the values and the general atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and it is an enjoyable place to work

How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
There are lots of different working groups in the company that champion EDI. They are easy to join and help create a sense of community and embracing differences so people can bring their whole selves to work.

How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

4/5
The initiatives an di do beleiev that Savills are taking great steps in improving CSR in teh company. However most people who are hired are from a privately educated background and i feel like there is still a degree of nepotism in the company

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?

Yes

Why?

good training, socialable work place

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?

I would say in the current job market recruitment is very hard so make sure you fully understand what you are applying for and be yourself. The onboarding process was very smooth and there was opportunity to meet the grads that joined at the same time as us in the first week and a few months before which was really nice.
