Graduate Project Manager Review

I have really enjoyed my time at Savills. The variety of projects, supportive team environment, and opportunities for professional development have enabled me to grow significantly in my role. I’ve been encouraged to take ownership of my work whilst always having access to guidance and support when needed. It has been a great place to learn, develop, and build my career.

My role is quite varied including project planning, procurement, contract administration, stakeholder management and project delivery. I act as the link between clients, consultants, and contractors to help ensure projects are delivered in line with their objectives.
What I enjoy most is the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects. I enjoy collaborating with different teams, solving problems, and seeing a project develop from an idea into a completed building or space that people can use and benefit from.

Starting out in my role there was a lot of support to help me feel more confident and settled into the role. This built up my abilities and skills to be able to contribute meaningfully to parts of the project. I feel that my team does value my input and the more I learn and grow the more I am able to contribute.

I feel the company has been very fair and even at times generous to me. I am happy with my compensation and feel I am fairly compensated for my work. You have to balance the support and perks you are receiving with the salary you are being paid. I have heard from others in the industry that other grad schemes may pay more than what I receive, but in comparison, their APC and personal development support is not anywhere near the support I have received.

I feel that I am being very well prepared for my future career. I feel that I have had incrementally more and more agency over my work and independence. This progression has allowed me have guardrails and support when needed, and able to stretch my skills when I can.

I have a great line manager who is very supportive. I respond well to their management style and feel I can go to them with any issues.

My company as a whole does encourage good work life balance and boundaries. In the end it is up to you to maintain those boundaries in a healthy way. In project management there will always be times that are a bit busier than others and it is important to monitor your mental health and take breaks when needed.

I would describe the atmosphere as professional, inclusive, and supportive. People are approachable and willing to help, which has been particularly valuable as I have developed in my role. There is a good balance between delivering high-quality work and maintaining strong working relationships, creating a positive environment where individuals are encouraged to grow, take on responsibility, and contribute to the success of the wider team. I am able to work from home when this makes sense or is needed. I do not work from home the majority of the time. I know that this is not the same across the business and some divisions are more flexible than others.

I would rate Savills positively in this area. Throughout my time with the business, I have found colleagues to be respectful, supportive and inclusive, creating an environment where people feel valued regardless of their background. It's encouraging to see ongoing initiatives that promote equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, and I believe these contribute to a positive workplace culture.

I have had a great experience at Savills so far. I have really felt supported and feel that the company and my colleagues do care about me and my progression as a graduate. I feel the compensation is good, I receive good support, and the company has room for further progression. I align with the values held by the company including their view on DEI and sustainability.
