Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Improvement Manager role involves pushing numerous projects through from beginning idea stages, to approval, to eventual deployment; each day looks quite different but overarchingly follows the same aim which is to progress your projects and better the reliability of our network.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given as much responsibility the rest of my team members who were there full time outside of a placement role.

I've learned a lot - from project management fundamentals, as well as grasped an understanding of business-based decision making and how to adapt and work alongside other working styles within various teams who I may engage with.

There was a lot of guidance; enough that I was able to build a strong foundation to take forward and build upon. There were numerous chances to link in with mentors and a strong community for support.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Incredibly welcoming and open. I was able to speak to many different people as well as get involved in volunteering opportunities and also freely ask questions to further my own understanding. My contributions were taken the same as full time staff members who had been there for years which helped me feel like I was contributing meaningfully.
