As a Toxicology Intern, I support a range of toxicology and product safety activities, working closely with scientists and cross-functional teams to assess the safety of ingredients and products.

Yes. I was given significant responsibility during my internship, including independently managing a year-long project that is now being handed over for continuation. I took ownership of planning, coordinating activities, tracking progress, and communicating outcomes with key stakeholders. Alongside this, I was trusted to manage my own workload, contribute to team objectives, and support decision-making through my technical and scientific work.

Throughout my internship, I have developed both technical and professional skills. These include scientific research, data analysis, technical report writing, and toxicological risk assessment. I have also significantly improved my project management, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills through leading a year-long project and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

I received a high level of support and guidance throughout my placement. My manager, project manager, mentor, buddy, and placement team mentor were all approachable and willing to provide advice, feedback, and support whenever needed.

The company culture was welcoming and supportive, with colleagues who were approachable and willing to help. However, due to hybrid working arrangements, the office was often relatively quiet, which sometimes meant there were fewer opportunities for spontaneous interaction and social engagement in person.

I enjoyed my placement and found it to be a highly valuable experience where I have learnt valuable skills that will progress my further career.
