Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Meeting lawyers in the team and assisting them with tasks and cases regarding intellectual property law. This involved researching, drafting letters, drafting emails to clients, and similar tasks.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Fieldfisher’s business model was explained to us on day one, so roles I never understood that exist in law firms were made clear to me. I could then see it play out in real life for the next couple of weeks, through meeting many PSL members and PAs.

Networking skills with lawyers up to partner level and my vacation scheme peers. Research skills, conciseness, handing in tasks at a timely manner, drafting emails professionally, and presentation skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is very chilled and laid back at Fieldfisher. The firm does not want you to work late hours or stay in the office late if you do not have to. They encourage a great work/life balance. Teamwork is very important at Fieldfisher and it’s obvious in the way the lawyers interact with one another and involved the trainees heavily in cases.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed it a lot; the office’s location is beautiful, I worked in tasks for very cool clients, and went to lunch with my team often to try out local spots.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fieldfisher LLP
Make sure you show your personality and the things that make you unique and yourself. I found that when being the most myself and having genuine conversations, without trying to sound like I know everything about law and law firms as a businesses, is when I did best in my interviews. Show that you are open to learning new things and that you have your own skills. Teamwork is also big at Fieldfisher.
