Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

During my internship I have supported a range of projects across the living sectors, including Build-to-Rent and Single Family Housing. My day-to-day role has involved undertaking market and investment research, analysing comparable transactions and schemes, reviewing development proposals, and preparing client-facing presentations and reports. I have worked closely with colleagues across the business to evaluate investment opportunities, and support the delivery of advice to clients.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt a great deal about real estate, in particular I have learnt much about the markets in different locations. I have also developed my excel skills alongside other key skills required in the field.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a great deal of support and guidance throughout my internship. Colleagues were always willing to answer questions, explain unfamiliar concepts, and provide constructive feedback on my work. I felt comfortable reaching out for help when needed, and the team made a genuine effort to involve me in projects and ensure I was learning and developing throughout the programme.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was excellent and the overall atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. From the start of the internship, I felt included within the team and was encouraged to ask questions, contribute to discussions and get involved in a wide range of projects. Everyone was approachable and willing to offer support, which created a positive working environment and made the experience both enjoyable and rewarding.

My advice would be to be yourself, show genuine enthusiasm for the industry, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. It is also worth staying up to date with the business and the sector beforehand so that you can engage thoughtfully during the application process.
