Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

During my time at Savills, I have supported the Property Management team across a broad range of administrative, financial, and property management responsibilities. My role involves assisting with the day-to-day management of commercial properties, ensuring accurate records are maintained, supporting client reporting, and liaising with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
On a day-to-day basis, my responsibilities include updating tenancy schedules, reviewing and analysing leases, preparing lease summaries, identifying green lease provisions, and maintaining property information within internal systems such as Compass. I have also assisted with service charge administration by updating service charge budgets and preparing year-end reports, as well as supporting rent review processes through calculating RPI uplifts and drafting CPI rent review correspondence.
In addition to administrative and financial tasks, I have communicated with tenants regarding rent arrears, liaised with external consultants such as Colliers to review property data, and produced reports following site visits, including a report on Goldsworth Trading Park Estate. I have also undertaken sustainability-related work, including preparing a SWOT analysis following a sustainability tour of Battersea Power Station.
My role has provided opportunities to attend a variety of client meetings, departmental briefings, and industry events, allowing me to develop a wider understanding of commercial property management and the services provided by Savills. I have also carried out numerous property inspections and site visits, including commercial offices, industrial estates, and mixed-use developments, giving me practical insight into property operations and asset management.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my placement. From an early stage, I was trusted to complete a range of tasks independently while receiving guidance and support when needed. My responsibilities included analysing leases, updating tenancy schedules, preparing service charge budgets and year-end reports, calculating rent review uplifts, drafting correspondence to tenants and third parties, and producing reports following property inspections.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt a wide range of new skills and further developed my existing ones throughout my placement. I have strengthened my analytical skills by reviewing leases, identifying green lease provisions, and interpreting lease terms for summaries and reports. I have also improved my attention to detail through updating tenancy schedules, maintaining property records, and preparing service charge budgets and year-end reports.
My communication skills have developed through drafting professional emails to tenants and third parties, liaising with external organisations such as Colliers, and attending meetings with colleagues and clients. In addition, I have gained a better understanding of commercial property management, including rent reviews, service charge management, arrears processes, sustainability initiatives, and property inspections.
