Summer Scheme Student Review

During my summer scheme, I was split between the ESG+ and Sustainability Consultancy teams within the Property Management division of Savills. Day-to-day work included supporting ESG reporting and site data collection, working on BREEAM-in-use assessments, conducting audits for ISO 14001 and 50001, and supporting the production of social risk reports. I also attended various site visits throughout my internship.

I was given the best balance between independence and support throughout my internship. It was my responsibility to make sure I met any deadlines I was set, set up meetings with people I needed to speak to in order to complete tasks, and work independently on projects. At the same time, my teams were very supportive and approachable for the whole duration.

My internship at Savills developed a multitude of my existing skills. My time management and organisation skills were heavily sharpened, as I was split between 2 offices on alternating days throughout the 6 weeks it was my responsibility to make sure I knew where I was going and organise my time and tasks efficiently to fit when I would be in each office with each team. Additionally, I learnt new industry-specific skills through my internship. I am far more familiar with using software like Excel and creating professional slide decks and presentations for a client-facing role.

I always felt supported throughout my internship. My teams were extremely friendly from the offset, always approachable, and I felt as though I could always ask for help and guidance.

The general atmosphere was really positive, and people from other teams in the office always felt approachable and happy to start a conversation.

I heavily enjoyed my internship at Savills. I found the work I was doing was always really interesting, worthwhile, and engaging. My teams were extremely helpful, supportive, approachable, and shared so much of their knowledge and skills with me that I can take forwards beyond my internship.
