Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I took part in the summer scheme within the development department in the Sevenoaks office. Day-to-day I took part in completing agency and consultancy work for the sale and acquisition of development land as well as being involved in valuations for residential, commercial and development land. I also conducted Soft Market Testing as part of my agency work.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was completing projects alongside my colleagues and was given responsibilities across all the projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt many skills such as using a range of programmes to complete valuations and development/residual appraisals as well as developed my skills within many Microsoft 365 programmes such as Excel and word.
Additionally, I have learnt other skills in client contact through RICS rules of conduct and providing a professional service to clients.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received sufficient support on all the projects as I mostly shadowed graduates and associated directors within the projects, therefore there was always someone to ask questions to and check my work with. All of my work was checked and I was given feedback and the final result before it was released to the client.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Company culture was friendly and felt supported throughout my placement. Support from the graduate team was extensive and we were also involved in learning about other areas of the business and the graduate programme throughout.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I very much enjoyed my experience and felt as though I learnt a lot throughout the placement. It helped me to secure my thoughts on a future career and gave me valuable work experience
