Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I undertook my placement within the Residential Development team at Savills' Leeds office, where I supported both the valuation/consultancy and agency roles on a day to day basis. On the valuation and consultancy side this included undertaking comparable evidence research, assisting with the preparation of reports, attending client meetings and carrying out residual development appraisals. On the agency side, my role involved preparing marketing brochures, responding to purchaser enquiries, conducting site viewings and inspections and maintaining regular communication with clients regarding levels of interest.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a significant level of responsibility which made me feel valued within the team. I was trusted to complete a wide range of tasks independently and to be client facing. Once completed, my work would be reviewed and discussed with my line manager. This balance suited my level of experience and enabled me to make a meaningful contribution.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
As this was my first long term professional office role, I developed a wide range of personal and professional skills. Working in a client facing environment improved my communication skills and taught me how to approach different situations in a professional manner. I developed my email and report writing abilities as well as my confidence in contributing to meetings and discussions. I also gained a better understanding of the residential development agency process and further developed my skills in residual appraisals.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had lots of support and guidance from my whole team and the wider office. My team were all really eager for me to understand and learn, so always were prepared to explain what they were doing or answer any questions I might have. My line manager and I had regular catch ups to discuss my progress and how it was all going, I felt very supported.
