Summer Scheme Student Review

As a Summer Scheme Student at Savills, my role involved supporting the team with a range of day-to-day tasks across valuation and property advisory work. This included researching comparable property evidence, reviewing market information, preparing concise notes, assisting with project work and learning how different factors such as location, condition, specification and market trends affect value.
On a day-to-day basis, I worked closely with members of the team, attended meetings where appropriate, completed research tasks, helped organise and interpret property information, and contributed to live workstreams. I was also able to develop my understanding of how Savills delivers advice to clients, particularly through accurate analysis, attention to detail and clear communication.

Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility during my placement. I was trusted to contribute to live project work, carry out research, prepare comparable evidence and produce notes that could support the team’s wider analysis. I felt that the work I was doing had a genuine purpose and that I was able to influence projects, while still receiving helpful guidance and feedback from colleagues.

Yes, I have developed both technical and professional skills throughout my placement. I have improved my ability to research and interpret comparable property evidence, understand the factors that influence value, and produce clear notes that support wider project work.2 3I have also strengthened my attention to detail, commercial awareness and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. The placement has helped me become more confident in taking ownership of tasks, asking relevant questions, responding to feedback and contributing to live work in a professional environment.

I really enjoyed my placement at Savills and found it to be a very positive and valuable experience. I was able to contribute to real work, develop practical skills and gain a much better understanding of the property industry.
