Yes, I have learned how a surveyor works in practice, such as what a typical day looks like and the types of projects and tasks you would work ok. I also learned about the commercial side of the role and communications between client and contractors which is invaluable.

More than I had anticipated, there are check-ins and networking events with the other interns and directors. You have learning modules to complete as part of the onboarding process and there are department overviews from each team within the business, which was useful to understand the scope of the business.

The team are really friendly and everyone I spoke to was kind and supportive.
There is a hot-desk policy so you sit next to different people most days, which is useful to meet the wider team.

I really enjoyed the internship and I learned a lot about the industry and the business.
