Summer Scheme Student Review

I supported a variety of property management activities across several retail and mixed use assets. My role involved assisting colleagues with both administrative and analytical tasks while gaining exposure to the wider responsibilities of property management.
On a day to day basis, I worked with lease and tenancy information, property management systems and client related projects. A significant part of my placement involved supporting a data cleansing exercise , where I compared tenancy schedules against MRI records to ensure key information such as lease dates, rent reviews, break clauses, rent deposits and rental data were accurate and up to date.
Alongside this project, I assisted with a range of other tasks including lease reviews, rent review calculations, turnover rent administration, tenant research and updating property records.
Beyond office-based work, I attended site visits as well as a client meetings. These experiences helped me understand how the technical and administrative work completed in the office translates into the day to day management of assets and relationships with landlords, occupiers and clients.
The role provided a valuable balance of analytical work, stakeholder exposure and practical property management experience, allowing me to develop my understanding of the property industry while contributing to meaningful projects across the team.

Yes, I was given a significant amount of responsibility throughout the placement, particularly through taking ownership of the data cleanse project and supporting colleagues across multiple properties, while being trusted to work independently and contribute to meaningful client focused tasks.

I felt fully supported throughout my internship from my line manager and from the wider team if I ever had a question or asked for help, but I was also given the opportunity to take ownership of different projects.

There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the office, they made me feel welcome from day 1.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and found it to be both rewarding and insightful. The variety of work, exposure to different properties and projects, opportunities to attend site visits and client meetings, and the supportive culture within the team made the experience extremely valuable. The placement strengthened my interest in property , helped me develop professionally, and confirmed that I could see myself building a career at Savills.
