Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During my internship in Savills' Central London Investment team, I worked on a range of live projects that gave me exposure to the commercial property market. My day-to-day responsibilities included researching market transactions, analysing investment opportunities, preparing investment brochures and presentation materials, carrying out SWOT and asset analysis, and assisting with financial modelling in Excel. I also reviewed lease information, calculated key investment metrics such as net effective rent, and used market data to help assess the performance of different assets. The role involved balancing multiple pieces of work at once while ensuring everything was completed accurately and to tight deadlines.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. I was given responsibility from an early stage and was trusted to contribute to live projects. I completed independent market research, prepared investment brochures and presentation slides, analysed property and lease information, and updated financial models used by the team. I often worked on several tasks simultaneously, which helped me develop my organisational skills and attention to detail. The experience gave me the opportunity to apply what I had learned at university in a professional environment while building my commercial awareness and technical skills.
