Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a Summer Scheme Student in the London Residential Development Team, I supported professionals working on residential development projects by carrying out market research, analysing development opportunities, assisting with project reporting, and attending team meetings. The role gave me valuable insight into the development process from site identification through to delivery, while strengthening my analytical, communication, and commercial awareness skills.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

During my time as a Summer Scheme Student in the London Residential Development Team, I developed strong analytical, research, and commercial awareness skills through supporting residential development projects and assessing market trends. I enhanced my ability to communicate professionally, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple tasks effectively while gaining valuable insight into the residential property development process, planning considerations, and client-focused consultancy work.

I received lots of support. Whenever I needed help there was always someone I felt asking for direction. There was a very strong support system in place

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere was great. People were very chatty and incredibly chatty - it was clear that the culture that had been created was one of a collaborative nature.

What advice would you give to others applying to Savills

I'd suggest reading up as much as possible on Savills and what they're about. I'd suggest finding people within Savills contacting them and asking for advice on how they got to where they are. I'd also suggest trying to find a little bit of work experience within the Real estate sector to show initiative and a key interest.
