Summer Scheme Student Review

As an intern, I assisted with both mechanical and electrical engineering tasks. My work included electrical calculations, sizing building services such as pipes, ducts, FCUs, attending site visits, audits and helped preparing feasibility reports.

Responsibility grew gradually during my internship allowing me to take on more independent technical work and contribute more to projects.

Throughout my internship, I improved my technical, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Working with experienced engineers helped me gain confidence, while tasks such as calculations, audits and site visits broadened my understanding of building services engineering.

I received plenty of support throughout my internship. The team was approachable and always willing to help and this allowed me to learn quickly and gradually take on more responsibility.

The company culture was friendly and supportive and there was a positive atmosphere throughout the office. The team was approachable and collaborative which made it easy to ask questions learn from experienced engineers and feel involved in the projects I worked on.

I really enjoyed my internship as it gave me the opportunity to apply what I had learned at university to real projects and develop new skills. I particularly enjoyed carrying out electrical calculations such as maximum demand assessments and mechanical calculations including pipe, duct and FCU sizing as they allowed me to apply engineering principles to practical design tasks.
