Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I worked within the WEA team, who provide lease advisory support to potential occupiers and landlord on commercial office space in London's West End.
Typical daily tasks included updating CRIB sheets, creating schedules (availability, competition, and photographic), as well as attending property viewings with agents acting on behalf of landlords.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Lots of responsibility and trust was given to me as an intern. Specifically, completing some tasks that would be sent to clients, providing support in dealing with clients, and completing tasks that were to be handed in to individuals of the business far above my station.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Developed existing skills, especially within commercial awareness and client interaction (social skills).
Learnt a lot of skills within excel, which was essential in helping me complete daily tasks to a high standard for my colleagues. As well as interacting with difficult clients.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Lots of support and guidance. My team always showed commitment, desire, and a genuine willingness to help my not only adapt to a completely new environment but to gain genuine knowledge in skills over my 6 weeks.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very good. Especially looking into my team, there is a very close-knit relationship throughout. The atmosphere at the desks is light-hearted but serious when needed to, which has been a great environment to be in.

Be yourself. This is something the company really emphasises. They understand that applicants for the scheme are young and do not yet have a fully developed commercial understanding or wide skill set.
