Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Worked as a data scientist in the advanced analytics team in the heavy end technical. Role involved performing large scale data analysis in python and creating machine learning models to find solutions to difficult problems. Role also involved working alongside area professionals to develop a more thorough understanding of steel making, which in turn made understanding the model outcomes easier.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given the project lead on my very first project at the company. I felt that I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my placement and I was trusted to complete my work to a high standard. However, alongside being given this responsibility I was also provided with help and support whenever I felt I needed it.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Throughout my year I developed a very good understanding of steel making as well as improved some of my technical skills. Specifically my coding skills were the most improved which I am now much more confident in. My presenting skills have also hugely improved due to hosting biweekly project meetings and daily DSUMs as well as entering a lecture competition. Other skills developed include: team working, communication, leadership skills, time management and many more.
