Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role was within the R&D Early Talent Team. Our team is responsible for supporting the Early Talent (Apprentices, IPs, Graduates) in our R&D Function at GSK. My role as Early Talent Coordinator was to support in the running of these programmes. I led the onboarding and pre-onboarding sessions of the early talent, supported development workshops and was responsible for the on programme management of the Placement programme supporting both placement students (IPs) and their manager.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility. In my first 3 months, I was given responsibility to lead the onboarding project. This was a 3 month project which involved on leading the pre-onboarding and onboarding sessions for our early talent across 3 sites. I also led development workshops for global graduates. Additionally, I had operational ownership of the entire placement programme, supporting placement students and managers through quarterly calls as well as introducing new initiatives to further improve our placement programme. I led the analysis of our annual Early Talent survey where I was trusted to analyse the results, present it to the team, and suggest ideas based on the data to improve our programme.
