Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Marketing, meetings with internal cross functional teams (DMC, finance, CSP) and external agency management (MS). Leading PTM's to keep networks on track, launching new PPA packs. Leading on all Ecommerce (Amazon brandbank, persil website, online competitions). Budget ownership for Persil, PO raising and GRing.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was thrown in the deep end! Just touching on a few responsibilities, leading PTM's weekly with Europe. Pulling data from Neilson/Kantar for AMEX and BTM presentations. Complete ownership of the budget file, monitoring all PO's and solving issues when they arise. I had to be proactive often and work processes out independently, which helped boost my confidence. I was in control of creating Visual Briefs and explaining design changes to the team to kick off and lead.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt new platforms including ARTlink/BLUE to approve artworks I had briefed in. Monthly data pulls on Nielson and Kantar, upskilling on network creation and the steps from taking an opportunity to producing it on shelf.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a good amount of support, however I would have appreciated more. My team is so stretched with their workload, often I was shown how to do complex tasks once and going forward had to make notes and go through myself being proactive (eg Neilson and Kantar).

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone was kind and supportive towards me, some more than others. At the start of my placement where I was understanding where my workplan ends and tasks sit with other teams , I found colleagues outside the brand team would ask me to complete work which actually sat with them. This is something that took a while for me to learn, as I love to help! However, when my work plan was increased to reflect a full time ABM I had to prioritise my goals and work over volunteering to help others.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have loved working over the past year, it is sad to leave when I have mastered so many projects! At times I was so focused on completing my work I missed out of social opportunities with fellow IP's (eg drinks on a Thursday) also the factor of living 2 hours away played a part in what events I could attend after work. I think it is amazing to be stretched and pushed out of my comfort zone, however as an IP it is important to also have time to socialise and network.
