Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a consistent level of guidance and support from my line manager, as well as people within the wider team (on the basis that I often reached out for support instead of waiting to be asked, and diary/working availability, however from an overall perspective, support and guidance was offered and made time for if ever asked).

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Personally I found the company culture to be extremely people focused, and very positive. There is a collaborative working culture encouraged, and people are willing to support and help when possible (particularly noticed with some senior work level managers / directors). I personally found it to be a very friendly atmosphere where relevant praise of any successes (individual and team) were given when relevant.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed my placement and am very glad I decided to do one. I found the company to be a brilliant place to complete this experience, especially being able to work in such a large corporation at this stage in my career while also being supported to grow and develop. I

What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever

Be clear on the function you are applying to and that it aligns with what you want out of it - read the job descriptions clearly. Ask as many questions as necessary at the beginning, the overall notion is to be curious and have a learning mentality so you should feel comfortable to do so and communicate if this is not the case. Be open to your role and give yourself a chance to learn as it is all new and likely a challenge - it can take time. Take every opportunity on offer and if there is an area you are interested in voice that so you can get everything possible out of the placement.
