Summer Vacation Scheme Student Review

Day to day I worked as part of a team, getting to understand the realities of working as a commercial solicitor. I worked between the Central Belt offices, getting to meet people in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I did tasks including research, writing, drafting, and note-taking in client meetings.

It was very helpful to speak to trainees and associates, particularly those who had taken a similar route to me and begun on a vacation scheme. This really helped me understand the Dentons processes.

I have definitely developed my skills in legal and commercial drafting, and I feel far better able to communicate to clients complex legal issues in a more commercially aware and straight-forward manner. I learned a lot about the practice area I was sat in.

Everyone was incredibly friendly, remembering me from our last contacts and making an effort to speak to me, for instance. Everyone was very willing to give me their time and speak to me about any interests we shared, whether legal or otherwise.

I really enjoyed the process.
