Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was working on my desk on assignments and some research tasks for matters. I also received training and had the opportunity to go to court and contribute to the writing of a court note for a case relevant to the practise of the firm.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Not very much. It was just a short internship and it would have been difficult and risky to delegate a lot of responsibility in that scenario.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I was able to improve my professional research and writing skills. I also learned more about how to navigate an office and how to work with the office's computer and filing systems. I learned also how to attentive in court.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a lot of support and guidance. We received very helpful training and it was very easy to just go over to an associate, trainee or even a partner to ask for help. The colleges sitting next next to me were always very supportive and the open plan arrangement made it much easier to communicate and grow together.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was so friendly and open. There were no tensions whatsoever. Everyone was ready to help each other to to network. Everyone was also very accepting of one-anothers differences.

It was a really enjoyable internship: a good mix of work experience, training and social events, which made for a multifaceted experience that targeted multiple areas of development opportunities and chances to network.

Really do your research into the firm before applying and work on your commercial awareness. The application process has a lot of rounds. It good to be prepared at every step of the way.
