Vacation Scheme Student Review

During the scheme, I completed daily trainee level tasks such as document drafting and legal research tasks. I also supported the team on any tasks and cases they were working on. I would also attend team meetings within our own team but also across other offices.

It was very insightful to learn at this early stage of my career as I feel I can now make more informed choices about my future. The Practical Experience has been the most valuable as I have seen how the theory translates into practice, which has made me even more engaged and motivated by the idea of this being my future. Additionally, having access to and networking with different people in the office was great as their expertise really helped my professional and personal development.

I've developed my attention to detail skills through reading agreements and documents that were quite lengthy. My task were to extract the relevant information, which required a lot of attention to detail to ensure no information was missed and that the work was of the highest of quality. As well as this, I've developed adaptability skills through the completion of such varying tasks. No two days or tasks were ever the same, therefore adaptability to new situations was crucial.

The company culture was very warm and welcoming. Every single person was always happy to chat and answer any questions and it was clear from the start how much they cared about your development.

I really enjoyed the scheme as it allowed me to get a feel of what it would be like to work here. You're in the office 9-5 and given a good level of responsibility. It's allowed me to not only grow professionally as I now understand more about commercial work and how it's completed. But it's also helped me personally to grow and further develop my problem solving, critical thinking, communication and confidence. These are all skills I will be taking forward and continuing to develop. I also enjoyed the experience because of the people I was surrounded by. I felt very supported throughout the whole scheme and it pushed me to become a better version of myself.

Attend Insight Events. It 's such an amazing experience to actually go into the office, speak directly to partners and trainees and get a feel of the culture/environment.
