Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day tasks was answering emails and arranging meetings with team members, attending meetings. Occasionally traveling to place of work.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yeah was given a good amount of responsibility mainly was helping a small problem that was part of a big problem. They didn't give me anything overwhelming it's quite tailored to my skill set.

Communication and Excel skills have drastically improved. Email writing and surprisingly active listening is a skill that National Grid really make sure you develop on.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A lot of support. They definitely want to make sure that you are comfortable with what you do in the job. They do put a skill development plan for you which is good as it help keep a measurement of your personal improvement in your own skills.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very relaxed. They have deadlines to meet but they give you the freedom of where you want to complete those tasks. I found myself being primarily remote and only coming into the office for critical meetings. Which is good as I find that I get more work done in my own environment.
Occasionally going into the office was for days where there was big staff meetings or resolving issues as a group.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship once I got passed all the training and HR stuff. A lot of time was wasted at the start doing online training but once we got into the work it was really enjoyable.

What advice would you give to others applying to National Grid
It's a good company to go with. The career paths in that buisness is massive. They are in a state where things are changing and expanding so it would be good to join them now and be part of something big in the future.
