Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I am testing a computational model for the prediction of properties of micellar solutions. My work is under the 'Data Automation & Modelling' team.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes the project is my responsibility. I also had opportunities to accept additional responsibility, for example, joining the outreach team and running events.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received help when asking for it from my industrial supervisor who is and expert in molecular modelling. I had monthly check-ins with my line manager to keep me on track.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my placement, a large contribution to my positive experience has been from interactions with the other placements students. It has been fullfilling to be surrounded my ambitious hard working and caring individuals who inspire eachother. The project has allowed me to explore a part of chemistry that is completely new to me which I have learned to appreciate. This has given me and opportunity to demonstrate adaptability and tenacity. Working alongside an expert in the field has been very insightful and I have appreciated all the knowledge I have learnt from this.
