Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?

Positive, I enjoy the role and the people I have met at BAE Systems.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Responsibilities include month-end reporting, tax + duty analysis and modelling and financial accounting such as journals or reconciliations. I enjoy the financial analysis work the most as I can employ a lot of techniques I learned at university.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
Until recently, my team was just my manager and myself. This meant I got great exposure, probably higher than an average graduate in my position. My manager always did a good job at making sure my opinion was valued, which is a credit to themselves - given I was the first person they managed.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?

Yes

Why?

BAE does genuinely give you a chance to grow, given you take the opportunity to. It is very easy to get settled and do your job effectively (which is not a bad thing), but I have got the most out of the role through stretch assignments, mentoring and university engagement days - which I found myself.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

3/5
I don't think I fully comprehended the extent to which location would play a role.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?

Understanding what breadth of what the company does. I helped out at interviews, greeting interviewees and what stood out the most was people who actually understood what we did, our position globally and the direction of the company. It sticks out when you only know that we are a defence company.
