Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?

It has been a transformative experience that has boosted my confidence and allowed me to have access to an extensive network of highly skilled and friendly individuals. There are plenty of opportunities to explore and grow.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Integrating multi-disciplinary teams, design, structures, external suppliers, customers and shop floor to help investigate and close concessions on parts. Also a lot of administrative tracking work. Supporting investigations to support the production and sustainment of aircraft. Engagement with full concession lifecycle on parts to ensure delivery and operational excellence.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

3/5
I a, taking on a lot of import roles and feel very valued especially for a grad, however in my role particularly I lack a lot of influence so is quite a challenge to persuade people sometimes.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
The pension is extremely good, company contributes about 2-3% on top of what you contribute up to 7% (so 17% all together) There are overtime pay opportunities if you are extremally busy like myself (With manager approval). There is also a matched shares contribution in the company of up to £150. (so £300 altogether)

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
I feel I have been provided opportunities to progress through the graduate accelerate scheme onto a senior role in the foreseeable future. Mentors and coaches are easy to find as well for guidance on development.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
There are many training modules to go on if you have time outside your day role to help develop your skills.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

3/5
Mentors and coaching are very good with early careers guidance. However, role changes within the company are poorly communicated to teams due to lead times with retaining internal employees preventing swift transition and handover.

How is your work-life balance?

3/5
Flexi time allows for you to vary according to your needs.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
3 days a week on site mandatory, positive people that are willing to help you. Collaboration greatly promoted but everyone is also very busy.

How would you rate BAE Systems initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
Lots of celebration of different faiths and communities.

How would you rate BAE Systems CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

3/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Great for career development and self improvement which in turn helps the company strives for excellence across products. Company has a bright future with lots of exiting projects. Plenty of roles and jobs even if you don't like the one you're in initially.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

3/5
Have to be very vague due to security reasons which is understandable, but pleasantly surprised by my impact on the product.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?

Ask lots of questions and be patient with getting access to toolsets.
